Note from the Director

An old adage says that a picture is worth a thousand words.

For this end-of-year newsletter, we want to share photos and a special video from our recent IFL@25 celebration, which marked the Institute’s founding in 1997.  It was a remarkable occasion!

As my colleagues and I look back at 2022, we are indeed grateful for the blessing of the work we are entrusted to do.  It is a joy and an honor to serve Baylor and the broader community of church-related higher education.

In addition to IFL@25, we held our annual Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture in late October on “Art Seeking Understanding.” Some 425 artists, scholars, and students from across the globe joined us for an incredible gathering.

The Crane Scholars Program continues to flourish with some of Baylor’s brightest undergraduates, as does the Institute’s work in congregational life through the Soundings Project.  We also have begun a program for new faculty called Missio.

As we look beyond IFL’s first 25 years, we are reminded of the words from Scripture that tell us to not grow weary in doing good.  We thank you for your encouragement along the way.

But in the spirit of this Advent Season, we now wait prayerfully for the glorious and merciful hope that we have in the child born in the manger.

Christmas blessings to you and yours from all of us in the Institute for Faith and Learning at Baylor,

Darin
