Missio Discussion Groups for Faculty and Staff
Missio brings people together from across the University to reflect upon Baylor's Christian mission and identity and the relationship between faith and learning. Through a cohort-style program, Missio seeks:
- To explore both the challenges and opportunities for Baylor as a Christian research university
- To acquaint faculty and staff with a theological understanding of vocation/calling, both personally and institutionally
- To reflect upon the implications of the Christian calling for academic life in both its teaching and scholarly dimensions
- To explore methodology and potential for faith-informed interdisciplinary work
- To foster collegiality, common purpose, and friendship in the Missio cohorts
Each cohort gathers for lunch regularly to discuss a shared reading, or share research and best practices.
Distinct Missio cohorts include the following:
- Faculty Missio (open to faculty in Waco)
- Nursing Missio (open to faculty and staff in the Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas)
