John Barton
- Faith and Learning Initiatives Consultant
John Barton is serving as the Faith and Learning Initiatives Consultant for 2025-2026, where he will be responsible for developing and rolling-out some exciting new IFL programming.
John comes to IFL with many years of experience in Christian ministry and higher education. He served as provost at Rochester Christian University and director of the Center for Faith and Learning at Pepperdine University. He currently serves as Assistant Director of Professional Development for NetVUE, a Lilly-funded project of the Council of Independent Colleges that works for renewal in higher education, and is co-host of NetVUE’s podcast Callings: Conversations on College, Career, and a Life Well Lived. His areas of research and teaching include African philosophy, Christian studies, interreligious studies, and peace studies. He was the recipient of the 2021 Howard A. White Teaching Award at Pepperdine University and is author of Better Religion: A Primer for Interreligious Peacebuilding (Baylor University Press, 2023).
