Dr. Bill Sterrett
Dr. Bill Sterrett serves as Department Chair and Professor of Educational Leadership at Baylor University, where he holds the Fred & Edith Hale Endowed Chair for School Leadership. Sterrett earned his undergraduate degree at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, where he studied middle grades education and was a member of the men's basketball team. He then pursued his M.Ed. and Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, studying educational administration.
Sterrett’s research focuses on school improvement, including sustainable green schools and districts; digital principals and technology-savvy superintendents; and collaborative school leadership. At Baylor, Sterrett has engaged in a number of funded efforts. He led the U.S. State Department-sponsored IDEA-SPORT grant that included Baylor faculty, staff, and students, along several universities in Pakistan to support women's leadership and sports engagement through on-the-ground sports and leadership workshops in Pakistan and through virtual professional learning communities. Sterrett recently co-led the Baylor Chairs Leadership Training Initiative which is designed to connect and support the university’s 70+ academic leaders through monthly gatherings and topical retreats.
Over the years, he has been actively engaged in the Baylor IFL programming, including Missio, Communio, and the annual Symposium on Faith and Culture, and he recently served as a faculty leader for the sustainability-focused Baylor Common Home Fellows Program, a collaboration between the Office of Sustainability and the IFL.
Dr. Elijah Jeong
Dr. Elijah Jeong (B.A., University of Washington; M.A., Wheaton College; M.Div., Reformed Theological Seminary; Ph.D., Baylor University) is the associate director of Baylor's Institute for Faith and Learning (IFL). His role involves directing various IFL projects, programs, and events, including the Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture, Communio, Missio, and the Crane Scholars Program.
Elijah's scholarly interests include creating structures and environments that foster faculty, staff, and student formation and belonging as well as the intersection of race and higher education administration. His work has been published in the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Journal of Scientific Study of Religion, and Christian Higher Education.
Elijah has wide-ranging experience in various educational and administrative roles, including serving as a high school teacher, pastor, lecturer, and higher education administrator. He has worked in academic and student affairs at three different higher education institutions.
