Christian Feminisms: Faith, Gender, and Justice

The Christian Feminisms: Faith, Gender, and Justice panel, taking place on Thursday, September 11 in Draper 152, will bring together a remarkable group of Baylor faculty from across disciplines to explore how Christianity and feminist ideals can work together to challenge patriarchal norms, promote gender equality, and foster a more inclusive faith tradition. Dr. Beth Allison Barr (History), New York Times best-selling author, will introduce the panel. The panel is sponsored by Women's and Gender Studies, and co-sponsored by the Institute for Faith and Learning, the George W. Truett Theological Seminary, and the Department of Religion. This interdisciplinary panel will include presentations by Dr. Andrea Turpin (History), Dr. Gia M. Chevis (Business), Dr. Emilie Cunningham (Medical Humanities), and Dr. Cynthia Shafer-Elliott (Religion). Each panelist will speak for approximately 10 minutes, followed by a Q&A and open discussion. The Institute for Faith and Learning will provide light refreshments to encourage further conversation at the end of the panel.
